Vilnius Alibi. Baltic Sea Crime Fiction Days. 09-12 11 2005

Can a city have an alibi, are the residents of Vilnius trying to hide something? Most probably not more or less than other cities and their residents. But the connection between a place and a story is exiting, especially in crime fiction.

In the collection “Vilnius Alibi” seven detective authors from the Nordic and Baltic countries write about Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. For some of them this is a known city or even a native town. But for the rest this city is an idea, somewhere beyond, on the other side.

The short stories are written for the festival Vilnius Alibi, which takes place in November 2005. The place of the festival is Vilnius, of course.

The collection presents seven short stories in the original language and Lithuanian, and that reflects the variety of languages on the both sides of the Baltic Sea. The authors are presented in both Lithuanian and Swedish, which is one of the official languages of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The stories are translated into English, too. The translations are published on the homepage of the festival www.vilniusalibi.lt.

For the lovers of crime fiction we can only add one thing – enjoy reading these fascinating short stories about the fantastic city of Vilnius.
